PRESS STATEMENT

The Women’s Movement POGO condemns the inclusion of Cuba on the list of countries that foster terrorism.

The Cuban people are experiencing the consequences of more than 60 years of economic blockade, and it is clear, that inclusion on the above list is a pretext for the continuation of the economic war, which is denounced internationally.

Even the recent US State Department report (15 May 2024) does not include Cuba in the list of countries that "do not cooperate with US counter-terrorism efforts", yet the US still keeps Cuba on the list of countries that "potentially support terrorism".

The economic war against Cuba is aimed, not at protecting the US from some alleged threat, but at destroying a positive example of socialist construction.

The Women’s Movement POGO express its solidarity to the Cuban people who have achieved so much with their hands tied.

We call on the women of Cyprus and the world to condemn and oppose the ongoing blatant violation of every principle of law that is part of the economic and political blackmail against the Cuban people.
