Cuban public health: adverse impact of the blockade on its development.

If there is one sector of the Cuban society that has been historically impacted by the U.S. blockade policies against Cuba, it is the public health sector. The major losses are the result of the impossibility of purchasing US-origin medical technology or which contain more than 10 percent of US-origin parts or components. Medicines, equipment, medical devices, reagents and other supplies used in medical care have to be procured in geographically remote markets and in many cases, through intermediaries, with a considerable increase in prices.
