The European Left Party has become aware that a group of MEPs has included in the June 8 agenda of the plenary session of the European Parliament an item on the “Political situation and human rights in Cuba”, attempting to undermine relations between the European Union and Cuba.

Serbian lawyer Bojan Dragicevic on Monday denounced the serious consequences of the US blockade against the Cuban people and demanded the immediate end of that policy that he described as criminal.

Cuban Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso highlighted how the US blockade has an impact on the living conditions of all Cubans, hinders development, the material possibilities for expanding cooperation and causes human damage.

The Network In Defense of Humanity appeal to all lovers of peace, justice and international law to denounce the unprecedented aggression of the government of the United States against Cuba, which has been going on for almost 60 years.

The blockade of Cuba is based on provisions that qualify, according to international law, as unilateral coercive measures, as a crime of genocide under the Geneva Convention of 1948 and as a crime against humanity under the Roman Statute of the International Criminal Court.
